I would like to publicly express my immense gratitude to all the election workers who assisted me at our town election held on March 14th, during the Blizzard of 2017. Nelson received over 18” of snow over the course of a stormy and blustery day; throughout this challenging time all of my workers showed up on time, ready to work and with a smile on their faces. My back-up plan in case of cancellations was implemented without any inconvenience, thanks to willing last minute volunteers. I am so very thankful to the following: Moderator: Lew Derby; Supervisors of the Checklist: Hope Lothrop and Donna Kidd; Ballot Clerks: Jeff Taylor, Val Van Meier, Amy Whitney and Andy Wilson; Counters and Watchers: Tom Buttrick, Joy Birdsey, Phil and Karen Castelli, Bill Dunn, Paul Giacomo, Bob Jones, Mark Levine, Kathy Schillemat, Heidi Tompkins and Tal Gregory, Elizabeth Williams, Emily and Sarah Wilson. There were also a few townspeople who on their way in or out of the Town Hall would eagerly shovel the walkway which was continually being covered by falling or blowing snow. And last but certainly not least, I’d like to thank Rich Church for driving to Marlborough to pick up our pizzas. All-in-all it was a good day in spite of conflicting directives from the state and the media.

I am always looking for new people to help out during elections. If you are interested in being of service to your town, please contact me at 847-9043 or A small stipend is paid.
