Salamander Crossing Brigades

from the Harris Center for Conservation Education
Salamander Crossing Brigade
Trainings Start This Week!
As the earth thaws and spring rains drench New Hampshire, thousands of amphibians make their way to vernal pools to breed. Many are killed when they must cross busy roads. Each spring, the Harris Center trains volunteers to serve on Salamander Crossing Brigades, who count migrating amphibians and safely usher them across roads throughout the Monadnock Region on one or more “Big Nights.”
To join the ranks − or simply to learn more about the remarkable spring amphibian migration − attend one of three upcoming volunteer trainings:
March 14 at the Nelson Town Hall
March 23 at Keene State College
March 25 at the Harris Center
